Kasane International Airport to Hideaways Camp Kuzuma, Botswana – Road Travel Guide

  • Paved Section:
    • The majority of the journey follows the A33, a well-maintained, sealed asphalt road that is straightforward to drive.
  • Seasonal Bush Tracks:
    • The final approach to Hideaways Camp Kuzuma and the internal reserve tracks consist of sandy bush tracks.
    • These tracks can become deep and muddy during the heavy summer rainy season (November–March), increasing the risk of getting stuck.
  • Vehicle Requirement:
    • A standard 2WD vehicle is suitable for the paved tar highway.
    • For the unpaved forest and concession tracks, a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended—and often necessary—especially outside the dry winter months.
  • Wildlife Hazards:
    • Large mammals, particularly elephants, are known to cross these regional roads.
    • Exercise caution and avoid driving after dark to minimise risks.
