Bakwena Lodge

Introduction

Chobe Bakwena Lodge is a cosy and welcoming eco-lodge nestled on the edge of the beautiful Chobe River, just a short 10-minute drive from the stunning Chobe National Park in the charming town of Kasane, Botswana.

The area where the lodge now stands was once an empty lot that served as a football field. Over time, the Youngs (the owners) lovingly transformed this space by planting trees and bushes and building the lodge with great passion and personal care. Their dedication truly shines in the warm, inviting environment they've created.

Bakwena offers two wonderful types of accommodation: the charming River-View Chalets and the exciting new additions, the cosy Tree-Top Chalets.

The River-View Chalets line the front of the property, offering stunning views of the Chobe River. These charming chalets are designed like traditional rondavels with thatched roofs and come with their own private verandas or balconies. It's a wonderful spot to relax and take in the passing river scenery, watch the local birdlife, and even hear the distant laughter of a hippo.

The Tree-Top Chalets are beautifully nestled within the woodland surrounding the lodge.

These charming thatched rooms are raised about 3 metres above the ground, peering through the leafy canopy—perfect for anyone who has ever dreamed of sleeping in a treehouse.

The outside veranda provides a lovely space to enjoy the scenic view of light and leaves, along with the soothing distant sounds of Africa and the river. Inside, the en-suite bathrooms are complemented by an outdoor shower, offering a true bush experience that you will remember fondly.

The Honeymoon Suite is truly one of the most romantic spots I've seen. Tucked at the end of the property, it offers a private deck overlooking the river—perfect for celebrating your love and experiencing the enchanting magic of Africa.

In the common area of Bakwena Lodge, you'll find a cosy lounge and bar, along with a charming thatched building featuring an upstairs "chill out" space—an open lounge offering beautiful views of the Chobe River. Down below, there's a sunny deck and eco-pool, beautifully filtered by lush plants, making it a perfect spot to unwind between exciting game drives and peaceful cruises.

At the lodge, you'll enjoy a variety of activities that go beyond just game-viewing in Chobe National Park and along the Chobe River.

Guests are also warmly invited to visit the nearby village and experience the community's rich culture.

For a fun and active way to explore, guided bike tours around the town and village are available. Best of all, these enjoyable activities are included in your stay, along with other great inclusions listed below.

The Youngs have thoughtfully built a cosy, eco-friendly guest lodge, conveniently located just 10 minutes from Kasane Airport and Town.

It's also conveniently close to the stunning Chobe National Park and the Kazungula border with Zimbabwe, making it a perfect base for exploring Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park. This means you can enjoy a relaxing stay while easily accessing some of the most beautiful sights in the region.

Here's what the Travel Agency considers.

Bakwena, this charming and unique guest lodge, offers a warmer, more personal experience than the larger hotels and lodges in the quaint town of Kasane — just a quick 10-minute drive from the entrance to the famous Chobe National Park.

Taking the route through Kasane town's suburbs may give you the impression that it's not the most ideal location. However, as soon as you pass through the gates into the charming woodland with prime river frontage, you'll find that it truly exceeds expectations.

The attention to detail at the Tree Top Lodges and River Facing Rondavals, along with the delicious food and wonderful staff, creates a warm, memorable, and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect place to enjoy the fantastic game viewing this area offers.

Everything is beautifully crafted, perfectly aligned with their proud Eco-friendly theme.

Overall, it's one of their favourite places to stay in Kasane.
